New year, new project! The day I finally handed-in all my projects from the last three months was also the day we got a new project to work at. I can't say I'm mad because It's a really nice and good project, but man, I wish I had a break from worrying about deadlines. One week would do it. Give me just one week, god.
Well, our new project is a VILLAGE! Yessssss a medieval village! The first part is creating a building and the second part is to gather all the buildings from all my classmates and put them together on a Unreal playable scene! When we were first introduced to the brief I honestly thought we would have the freedom to choose our own style of village (futuristic, underwater, slums, whatever) and I was pretty excited because I love to think about new and different things, but at the end, as the second part of our work is a group project, It would be very confusing to set up a style everyone liked and have all buildings following the same style at the end, so we were given the old, good medieval style. Meh, It's fine.
I decided to create a potion shop, or an apothecary! So I went to Pinterest, Google images and Artstation to gather some references, and here is my references board!

I wasn't able to find many references of a potion shop building, only the inside of it, so I just looked for medieval game houses and common buildings. I'm still looking for them.
The next step was to think about the shape of my building and start drawing the orthographic views and start some ruff model. I really want to give everything I have for this project, but I'm a bit scared that my shop will look a different style than the others, but let's see how It rolls, right.
Because we only had one week to present our design with all orthographic views and the model, I didn't experiment much on the shape of my apothecary house, but I knew I wanted to do something witch-y and mystic. I decided to work with these sketches:

After I had the sketches, I decided to go straight to the blockout step instead of thinking about the colours, once we still don't have a defined style (that would be set next monday). It will be good because I'll have a good idea of what I'm putting myself into, and will decide If my model is too complicated or just fine. I am a little concerned about the textures since we will only have four sheets to work with and I have a lot of different patterns. Will probably have to change a lot of things.
