FINAL MODELS

Earth Witch

For the last part of the Village Project, here we have my character! My earth witch was created to populate our group village and live in my Apothecary / Witch house.

I didn't want to dress her as the witch cliché with the witch hat - although my HOUSE has a witch hat -, a broom, a pointy nose and ugly face. I created her to be a normal person with Romani ancestrals.

She had to estabilish herself in a small village after she saw too much of the world. Her ancestrals taught her about the arts of magic and she makes a living by creating silly little potions for the townspeople. Transfiguration potions are her expertise. She often goes into small journeys around the county to find herbs and new ingredients, that's why she carries the belt with essential objects. At night, she can be found in her house casting new spells.

This was the first human I ever modelled and the first rigging too! I really want to keep creating more characters and learn more about animation.

Apothecary / Witch House

Three weeks of work resulted on my best project so far! I look back to the last 18 weeks and I am still skeptical about how much I've grown in such a small period of time.

My Apothecary / Witch House is part of a bigger project yet to come, the Village Project, in which all the students will gather their work to create a functional playable level. This was my very first time creating Normal and Roughness maps, and my first attempt at working with UE4. I have learned so much with this building, I think that this one will always be special, even though I am sure others will look better.

I didn't manage my time very well and ended up with some textures I wish I could change and improve, and also this is not the final model, because all the props to dress my building are still missing. Wait for it and you'll have some glowing windows, cauldrons and a lot of potions and magic going on here.

All the process for creating the building can be found under the WEEKS 16-20 tag!

Henge of Stones Diorama

After weeks of struggle and desperation, of changing the original idea a hundred of times, of crying because I didn't know how to paint grass, I can proudly (kind of) present: THE DIORAMA!!!

I was so afraid the final model would look terrible. That was the main reason why I changed it so many times before. I have had a lot of help from my tutors and third year friends who helped me creating the final shape of it all!

My diorama is based on celtic elements and The Mists of Avalon mythology. My base was made to resemble Glastonbury's Tor, the stones were in a henge that lead to the main element, the stone plinth of the Goddess.

If you want to know more about the creation process and the story behind each element, you can check the posts on my blog!

That weird tree

Finally, the SketchFab model of my tree is here!!! It's been a long journey and It's not even over yet. Oh no no, for my final diorama I'll still make some changes like the leaves colours and the door. But for now, this is the finished asset.

After changing the trunk texture about three times, having to unwrap everything several times because of errors at the model and having to place all the leaves again after realizing they looked flat from some angles, I finally got a shape that I actually like.

I had some feedback from a third year couple that is always helping me at the Gurus and Grasshoppers sessions and they helped me to place the leaves in a way It would look good from every angle and I also put an extra texture with just the leaves to cover some parts after that. I was magic.

You can find all the creation process for my weird tree at the PROJECTS page in my blog, under the tag WEEKS 6-10.

The Treasure Chest

This is the SketchFab final model of my Treasure Chest project!

I'm very happy with the final result even though I had to change my first texture to better suit the original brief and had a really reduced time to work. I still want to make the other texture a personal project so another treasure chest might pop-up in this page soon enough!

It's a very simple project but It took me a lot of time and I can't even describe how much I learned and how this little piece made me grow in 3D and texturing. I was very afraid I would have a terrible texture at the end because I'm not a really good digital artist, so I was very proud of myself when I had everything done.

First one is out of the batch! May the other projects come for I am ready for them!!!

You can find all the creation process for the Treasure Chest at the PROJECTS page in my blog, under the tag WEEKS 1-5.
